Die Lehrveranstaltung führt in die Pscholinguistik ein. Die Psycholinguistik beschäftigt sich mit der menschlichen Sprachbeherrschung. Ihr ist das mentale System, das den Sprachgebrauch ermöglicht. Fragestellungen betreffen zum einen die Repräsentation sprachlicher Strukturen im Gehirn sowie Mechanismen zu deren Verarbeitung, zum anderen den Erwerb und auch den Verlust sprachlichen Wissens (inklusive prozeduralen Wissens).
Die Lehrveranstaltung knüpft an das in der linguistischen Fachportal-Veranstaltung erworbene Grundlagenwissen an. Konzepte der Grammatiktheorie werden unter psycholinguistischer Perspektive diskutiert. Dabei wird der Schwerpunkt auf der Sprachverarbeitung und insbesondere dem Sprachverstehen liegen. Neben psycholinguistischen Kernkonzepten und ausgewählten Modellen vermittelt die Lehrveranstaltung auch grundlegende experimental-methodische Kenntnisse.
