In den ersten Veranstaltungen soll die historische Entwicklung des Begriffs der intrinsischen Motivation (IM) und frühe Theorien besprochen werden. Im Anschluss daran werden die wichtigsten aktuellen Theorien dargestellt sowie deren Kompatibilität diskutiert. Bei der Auswahl an Forschungsbefunden wird der Schwerpunkt vor allem im Bereich der Pädagogischen Psychologie liegen und es werden ausgewählte Befunde zur Bedeutung der IM für Lehr-Lernprozesse besprochen. Zudem wird auch auf Befunde aus weiteren Anwendungsfächern eingegangen, wie zum Beispiel Sport- und Gesundheitspsychologie. Zum Abschluss des Seminars werden Ansätze zur Förderung der IM anhand einzelner Programme erläutert und diskutiert.
