This seminar covers the topic of meta-research in empirical quantitative research fields with examples from economics, psychology, medicine and environmental sciences. Meta-research is research on research and deals with the evaluation and improvement of research methods and practices. In each week, 1-2 students will present a summary of a paper, followed by a group discussion started by a predetermined discussant. All participants are expected to read the current material before the weekly sessions. In the first two sessions, the course instructor will give a short introduction into the topic. The course language will be English.
It will be expected that participants are familiar with basic statistics (e.g. from introductory courses in statistics, stochastics or econometrics) and have basic skills in at least one statistical software.
