The aim of this research class is to support PhD students in their research. This includes the formulation of a research focus and question, theory and hypothesis development, data collection and analysis, and interpretation and discussion of results. We will also talk about the publication process and potential target journals. In each session, there is an opportunity for a doctoral student to present a part of the dissertation or an article for the dissertation and to discuss open questions with the seminar participants. In preparation, a draft of an article, chapter, or section of text should be made available to the other course participants via the learning space (Lernraum). 15-20 minutes are allotted for the presentation of the topic and discussion points. During the remainder of the time, the doctoral student will be supported with questions, discussion, suggestions, and tips. The focus is on research on social inequality. There are no methodological or theoretical restrictions. Chapters or articles can be presented in English or German.
