In this class we are going to strategically work our way through the texts of Michel Foucault, one of the most prolific and important philosophers and theoreticians of the 20th century. His works have influenced literary studies, social and cultural studies and many other research fields and added a large body of terminology to our toolkits. Together we will explore how Foucault's ideas have been - and continue to be useful - for research in British and American Studies.
This is a theory-heavy class for advanced students. Students therefore should have at least completed BM1 and BM2.
