Have you ever watched a movie or a play and wondered how the actors actually turned that script into action? Or have you been acting on stage yourself but always felt you didn’t get enough feedback in the hustle and bustle of a production?
In this practical seminar, we'll focus on one of the cornerstones of acting training: the monologue. A monologue is the perfect piece to accommodate your individual goals. Whether you want to practice your pronunciation or get better at comic delivery, we'll find the piece that suits you and the techniques you need to get ahead. From choosing a text, to learning your lines, to script analysis, to developing a character and setting the stage - you will be supported every step of the way.
The seminar will end in a private showcase, meaning a) the focus is on the process not the product, as it won’t be a full-fledged production, b) the performance won’t be publicly advertised but you can invite friends and family. Participants of the English Drama Group will be invited, too. The showcase takes place on Friday, 17. January, at 6 pm.
After the seminar, you’ll approach reading dramatic texts in a new way, you’ll be able to identify and employ aesthetic techniques, but most and foremost, this is a creative confidence boost for everyone drawn to the limelight.
Absolutely.
Yes. Be aware though that whatever text you'll choose you will perform it as a character. But it is possible to choose material that feels more presentation-like (i.e. more TEDTalk than Hamlet).
No. The showcase is an integral part of the experience.
