Einführung in die Supramolekulare Chemie, von der Basis, bis zu aktuellen Anwendungen.
Die Vorlesung zur Supramolekularen Chemie beschäftigt sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung von höhermolekularen organisierten Systemen in denen mehrere organische Bausteine, spezifisch und typischerweise reversibel, miteinander wechselwirken. Das Grundthema der Supramolekularen Chemie ist die molekulare Erkennung.
Die aktuelle Bedeutung der Supramolekularen Chemie ergibt sich auch aus ihrer engen Verzahnung mit anderen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, die von supramolekularen Konzepten oder Systemen profitieren. Hierzu zählen die Katalyse, Nanotechnologie und Nanomedizin.

Die Vorlesung enthält einen geringen Seminaranteil, welcher u.a. der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Nobelpreis für Supramolekulare Chemie dient.
In den Vorlesungen werden die grundlegenden Konzepte und Methoden vorgestellt. Eine Vertiefung erfolgt anhand von wissenschaftlichen Publikationen und Primärliteratur, die gegebenenfalls in Gruppenarbeit erschlossen wird.
Die Veranstaltung wird vom aktiven Plenum begleitet werden, in dem ein Problem oder Fragestellung theoretisch vor dem Hintergrund der bekannten Literatur bearbeitet wird. Dies setzt ein erhebliches Maß an Vorbereitung und Selbststudium vor bzw. nach der jeweiligen Veranstaltung voraus, um eine Durchdringung der Thematik in der Tiefe zu gewährleisten.
