This seminar explores cultural, historical, literary, and political aspects of black writing in the US and Canada. It is a collaboration between Afua Cooper (poet, recording artist, historian, chair of black studies in Canada) and Wilfried Raussert. This seminar explores black writing also in the context of different movements such as the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts movement, and the Black Lives Matter movement and analyzes the cultural, aesthetic and political significance of black writing in North America. Keep in mind that this seminar will include two block sessions on Saturdays in June as well as an additional event.
