Short Stories are an excellent genre to teach at school, especially to students preparing to enter SEK II. This class discusses post-colonial short stories in their school-canonical context, together with extant didactic material accompanying them. Our target is to develop an understanding of these stories both in their progressive historical and cultural context, and their applicability to current educational questions in EFL. In the course of this class, you will particularly discuss, rehearse and compare different methodical approaches to short stories and teaching prose literature, as well as consider possible ways to plan and organize thematic units and individual classroom sessions.
