This course is intended for beginner students of psychology and related disciplines. Using an American textbook for first-year students of psychology as our primary text source, we will explore some of the topics and the terminology beginner students are faced with in their psychology classes. The textbook material will be enhanced by Internet materials of various kinds. In addition, participants will learn a set of reading and lexical strategies to help them deal with the very difficult academic texts they have to read in their courses.
The course employs a mixed format using all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Grammar help may be given on an as-needed basis.
Course requirements:
Graded course certificate, 3 credit points.
