Literature, media and intercultural learning are essential when teaching a foreign language. But what are appropriate teaching techniques to integrate those aspects into EFL lessons? It is the aim of this course to shed light on this question by taking the theoretical background as well as the practical side of language teaching into consideration. To combine both in an illustrating way we will apply our knowledge and ideas on the planning of a series of lessons on the novel The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle (you are expected to read it before the course begins). In this context we will work with the curriculum, examine a wide range of material and media, and deal with several teaching methods and activities.
Please note that this course mainly aims at teaching EFL in the SekII.
