In this seminar we will discuss recent topics within the neuromorphic
engineering research field. Neuromorphic engineering aims at
understanding the principles of biological computation and constructing
artificial systems based on the same principles. Neuromorphic systems
emphasize distributed, collective, self-organized, event-driven
mechanisms. Each week a scientific publication will be presented by one
of the participants and discussed with the fellow students and members
of the Neuromorphic Behaving Systems group. Each semester a general
topic is selected to which all of the publications refer to. Within this
topic, modeling and hardware implementation approaches are considered.
Topics of recent semesters were:
- olfaction in biology;
- circuit design and layout;
- learning in biological systems;
- bio-inspired robotics;
- neuromorphic computing systems;
- synaptic plasticity.
