This seminar is specifically aimed at those planning to teach at secondary school level: Hauptschule, Realschule, Gymnasium or Gesamtschule. The course offers a brief historical survey of methods of teaching English as a foreign language and introduces major contemporary approaches as well as some less mainstream approaches. There will also be a brief, practically-orientated introduction to assessment at secondary level.

Participants will give group presentations, most of them involving micro-teaching sequences, to complete the seminar requirements: everyone will also be expected to take part in the student-generated Class Quiz near the end of the semester.
