Teaching culture is an integral part of teaching a language. However, teaching English-speaking cultures is no longer restricted to learning facts about the US and UK. Cultural learning can take place close to home - in every day life locally as well as globally, accessible online. Digital media change cultural participation and can be used for exploring (sub-)cultures online and offline. In this course, we will examine how such a renewed understanding of teaching culture affects classroom practices and you will design your own task-based units of teaching culture beyond the (traditional) classroom.
The course will be held digitally this term, step-by-step instructions for module tasks as well as times and possibilities for direct interaction later in the term will be coordinated on Lernraum+ which will be launched at the time of the first session.
