300138 Globalisierung des Managements? (S) (WiSe 2009/2010)

Im Zuge der Globalisierungsdebatte sind auch Fragen nach der Transnationalisierung von Eliten, insbesondere Wirtschaftseliten, und deren Karrieren aufgeworfen worden. Erste ‚starke' Thesen hierzu stammen aus der wirtschaftsnahen Managementforschung. Sie sieht im so genannten ‚Globalmanager' einen neuen, zur globalen Wirtschaft komplementären Managertypus. Der ‚Globalmanager' repräsentiert den Idealtypus des Managers von transnationalen Unternehmen, der für die Anforderungen sich globalisierender und immer komplexerer Umwelten von ‚Weltunternehmen' bestens gerüstet ist (Bartlett/Ghoshal 1990; Kanter 1996). Diese Thesen sollen in der Lehrveranstaltung vorgestellt und kritisch diskutiert werden. Basis hierfür ist die Beschäftigung mit aktueller soziologischer Forschungsliteratur zum Thema sowie mit empirischem Datenmaterial aus den Forschungsprojekten der Veranstalterin.

Bibliography

Die Seminarliteratur wird im Stud.IP elektronisch zur Verfügung gestellt. Weiterführende Literatur wird in einem Semesterapparat zusammengestellt.

Erwartet wird eine regelmäßige Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung sowie die Bereitschaft, sich angeleitet durch Arbeitsaufgaben mit empirischem Forschungsmaterial zu beschäftigen.
Eine benotete Einzelleistung kann durch ein Referat mit schriftlicher Ausarbeitung (oder bei hoher Teilnehmerzahl alternativ auch durch eine Hausarbeit) erbracht werden.
