Understanding Asia is a long-standing colloquium series of the AB Sociology of Transnationalisation and Social Anthropology in collaboration with the working groups of Prof. Andreas Vasilache and Prof. Heidemarie Winkel. Broadly defined, it seeks to introduce innovative research on social transformations in Asia through lectures by established and emerging scholars based in institutions around the world. The series is intended to take place with a particular thematic focus for each semester. In the coming winter semester we will have up to six lectures under the theme "Gender and Power"
