Mobility has become a hallmark of the complex societies in the era of globalization. In the last twenty years a large amount of literature about mobility has been produced within the socio-anthropological field both on theoretical and empirical levels. These works highlight as the discourse on mobility has to take highly into account the topics of borders and citizenships, in order to avoid a “naïve cosmopolitism” which does not look at the questions of power and inequality. A critical socio-anthropological approach to mobility has to deal with question, as for example how does the right of mobility change depending on nationality, socio-economic status, education, gender, age or how does mobility reshape borders and the movers and fixed people’ citizenship rights, or also how does the structure of inequality is influenced by people’s mobility.
Taking as a case example the UE, participants in the seminar will work on theoretical meaning of mobility as well as they analyses specific typology of mobility from and toward EU and Intra-EU: student mobility, working mobility, refugee mobility, tourism, circulation of ideas, trade mobility. Referring also to other disciplines (law, political economy…) the student will be able to gain knowledge on the mobility related phenomena which it will be able to deserve them for working in relevant organization which deal with topic of movement of people as for : local and international NGOs focus on migration and development, student and work mobility agencies, sustainable tourism organizations.
