This seminar is on global social policy in its dimension of global social regulation.
1) We discuss regulation in its relationship to global social redistribution and global social rights; and we discuss different forms and meanings of global social regulation.
2) We understand global social regulation as a form of global governance and go into the roles of international actors in developing and shaping global social regulation.
3) We study the OECD, the World Bank, the ILO, and the WHO in their roles to influence global social regulation.
4) We look into different fields of global social regulation, namely migration policies, health policies and trade policies respectively and their overlaps and links with (global) social policies.
The literature for this course is in English and the seminar's presentations and discussions are expected to be in English as well.

I hope for a diverse group of students with different disciplinary and national backgrounds and international experience (to which I am happy to adjust the seminar plan, to some extent; and looking forward to meeting you in October!)
