This seminar is a weekly seminar which prepares for the school placements in the course of your English studies. The seminar can only be taken in the context of the school practical organised by the BiSEd and is obligatory for this practical. The school placement takes 4 weeks and takes place in the subsequent term break.
The preparatory seminar aims at providing you with the basics needed for “survival” in the teaching profession: basics of lesson and unit planning, dealing with disruptions, focusing on different areas of teaching like receptive/productive/grammar skills, …
The seminar features a practice-oriented approach which will include presentations on both theory and practice for active participation.
There is a permanent shelf (Lennon/Maschmeier) in the library (C) which can be used for preparation and course work. There will also be a digital reader on stud.ip.

The seminar involves active phases, which makes regular attendance a prerequisite.
The practical phase involves writing a final report, which is marked for students in the old model (2002) and unmarked for students in newer models.
