Curriculum Vitae

Niklas Nutsch completed a dual course of study as a state-certified nurse with a Beachelor’s degree in nursing (2017) at the educational institution ZAB (Zentrale Akademie für Berufe im Gesundheitswesen GmbH) in Gütersloh and at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. He then completed his Master’s degree in Public Health (2019) at the Bielefeld University.

Since October 2021 Niklas Nutsch works as a public health researcher and doctoral student at the Department of Population Medicine and Health Services Research (AG2) at the Bielefeld University. In his doctorate research he examines the effects of social determinants and post-migration factors on the mental health (life satisfaction, quality of life, well-being, mental disorders) of asylum seekers and refugees.

Niklas Nutsch is involved in teaching activities within the Master of Public Health at the Bielefeld University and has a special interest in quantitative research methods and data analysis with Stata. In this regard, he carries out statistical analyzes based on secondary data (e.g., data from the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) study).

His main research interests and previous work experiences are in the fields of mental health, health of forced migrants and marginalized groups, social determinants of health, and health inequalities (e.g., effects of post-migration factors on mental health among forced migrants). He is also interested in health policies or services and aims to generate practical and policy-oriented evidence (e.g., effects of non-pharmaceutical interventions to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic).
