Appointments from abroad
The Faculty of Biology has been strengthened by two newly appointed professors coming back to Germany from Vienna (AT) and Glasgow (UK):
JuniorProf‘in Dr. Meike Wittmann from the University of Vienna, Austria, will be setting up the newly established Chair for Theoretical Biology, where she will develop mathematical models for the interaction of ecological and evolutionary processes. In Vienna she had a Lise-Meitner Postdoctoral Grant in Theoretical Ecology and Evolution and before that she performed research at the Stanford University, USA.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Kayser from the University of Glasgow, UK, was appointed W3 Professor for Cognitive Neuroscience. In Glasgow he held a professorship at the Institute of Neuroscience & Psychology and before he led an independent Junior Research Group at the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen. Prof. Kayser has been awarded an ERC Consolidator grant (2015-2020) for studying neural and computational mechanisms underlying sensory perception and he is a fellow of the Royal Society for Biology (UK).
The Faculty of Biology warmly welcomes Meike Wittmann and Christoph Kayser.
