Competencies

In the introductory lecture, students will acquire an understanding of basic methods, algorithms and techniques in the field of statistical natural language processing. They will be able to deepen this knowledge through accompanying exercises. In the project/seminar, they will be able to acquire hands-on experience with state-of-the-art approaches to statistical natural language processing.

The courses in this module are only offered in English.

In der einführenden Vorlesung erhalten Studierende Einblick in Methoden, Algorithmen und Techniken der statistischen Sprachverarbeitung. Durch die begleitenden Übungen wird dieses Wissen weiter vertieft. Im (Projekt-) Seminar erhalten sie zusätzlich praktische Erfahrung im Umgang mit dem Stand-der-Technik im Bereich der statistischen Sprachverarbeitung.

Die Veranstaltungen in diesem Modul werden ausschließlich in englischer Sprache angeboten!

Content of teaching

In the lecture, we will discuss the following topics:

  • Language Identification
  • Part-of-speech tagging
  • Statistical Parsing
  • Machine Translation

  • Maschinelle Übersetzung

Recommended previous knowledge

  • Grundkenntnisse in Algorithmen und Datenstrukturen
  • Grundkenntnisse der Programmierung in C, C++ oder Java
  • Basic knowledge about data structures and algorithms
  • Programming skills in some higher programming language (Java, C++, etc.)

Die Modul(teil)prüfung kann in einigen Studiengängen nach Wahl der Studierenden auch "unbenotet" erbracht werden.
