The BGHS has started its evaluation 2016 with an online doctoral researcher survey.
Doctoral researchers of the BGHS are invited to express their view of the BGHS’ overall situation and contribute to the graduate school’s further development.
The doctoral researcher survey 2016 is the first step of a voluntary evaluation, which the BGHS undergoes for the second time. The first evaluation, which took place in 2010, lead to a strategic development of the programme and to success in the second funding period of the Excellence Initiative. This year's evaluation should guide the continuation and perpetuation of BGHS at Bielefeld University.
As further steps of this year’s BGHS evaluation interviews with supervisors are planned. The results obtained from the online survey and the interviews are summarized in a preliminary evaluation report and reviewed by an external body. In autumn 2016, the evaluation should be completed in a final report.
More on quality management and the evaluation processes at the BGHS:
The Section for Sociological Theory of the German Sociological Association and the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) are inviting doctoral researchers to a workshop entitled Sociological Theory.
On 8/9 September 2016, doctoral researchers of sociological theory will be provided with the opportunity to present their thesis to an expert audience. The thematic framework of this workshop is expansive; however, the presentations should be concerned with sociological theory. Presentations with compatible topics are more likely to be chosen. All in all, ten presentations will be taken into account. It is planned to hold this workshop annually.
The workshop will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Rainer Schützeichel (Bielefeld) and Prof. Dr. Joachim Renn (Münster), both board members of the Section for Sociological Theory.
The workshop will take place at the facilities of the BGHS in Bielefeld. Further information will be announced soon.
Please send your application, including expressive Exposé, to the conductors. Deadline: 31 May 2016
